Microsoft Restores Services After Global Outage Disrupts Email and Apps

Microsoft announced Saturday evening that it had resolved a widespread outage that had left tens of thousands of users unable to access Outlook email and other applications.

“We’re investigating an issue that may be preventing users from accessing Outlook features and services,” the official Microsoft 365 Status account posted on X during the disruption.

The outage, which began around 3:30 p.m. ET, affected multiple Microsoft services, including Outlook, Exchange, Teams, Microsoft 365, and Azure. According to Downdetector, more than 37,000 users reported Outlook-related issues, while around 24,000 experienced disruptions with Microsoft 365. Additionally, about 150 users reported difficulties accessing Teams.

Reports indicated that the outages were most heavily concentrated in major cities such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Frustrated users took to X to share their experiences, with many voicing concerns over what appeared to be a widespread Microsoft service failure.

Following the restoration of services, Microsoft updated its service health page, confirming that “everything is up and running.” The Microsoft 365 Status account later reaffirmed on X that the issue had been fully resolved.
