Snow White Box Office Plummets in Week 2, Marking Disney’s Worst Live-Action Drop

The Snow White box office is making headlines for all the wrong reasons, as the Disney live-action remake has suffered a record-breaking second-week drop. While the film initially debuted at No. 1 at the domestic box office with $42.2 million, its momentum quickly faded, leading to a significant decline in ticket sales.

Snow White Box Office Suffers Worst Disney Live-Action Week 2 Drop

As of Sunday, Snow White is projected to gross just $14.2 million in its second weekend, representing a 66% decline—the steepest second-week drop for any Disney live-action remake. This surpasses the previous record set by 2019’s Dumbo (-60.4%), as well as:

  • Cruella (-48.8%)
  • Jungle Cruise (-54.8%)
  • Haunted Mansion (-61.7%)

The sharp decline in box office earnings is partially attributed to ongoing controversies, including backlash over casting choices, political statements by its stars, and debates over the film’s portrayal of dwarfism.

Can Global Earnings Save Snow White?

Despite its domestic struggles, the Snow White box office has reached $143.1 million worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing movie of 2025 behind Captain America: Brave New World and Ne Zha 2. However, with a massive production budget of $250 million, analysts estimate the film must earn at least $625 million to break even—an increasingly unlikely outcome.

Disney’s Live-Action Future: Can It Bounce Back?

While Snow White faces an uphill battle, Disney is betting on upcoming live-action remakes to revive its box office success, including:

  • Lilo & Stitch (May 2025)
  • Moana (July 2026)

Unlike Snow White, these films are based on beloved, recent animated classics with less controversy, making them strong contenders for box office success.

Final Verdict: Snow White Box Office in Trouble

Despite securing a place on 2025’s worldwide box office charts, Snow White appears to be another costly Disney misfire. If its ticket sales continue to decline, it could end up as one of Disney’s biggest box office flops in recent history.
