The 97th Academy Awards delivered an evening of surprises, historic wins, and unforgettable moments. With intense competition across multiple categories, this year’s Oscars celebrated excellence in filmmaking, acting, and technical achievements.
Biggest Winners of the Night
Leading the pack was Anora, which dominated the ceremony by winning five out of six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay. With these victories, writer-director-editor Sean Baker has tied Walt Disney’s long-standing record for most Oscars won in a single night.
Meanwhile, The Brutalist secured three awards, while Wicked and Dune: Part Two each earned two. Despite being the most nominated film of the year with 13 nods, Emilia Pérez only took home two awards for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song.
Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the nearly four-hour-long telecast featured show-stopping performances, including a Wicked medley, a James Bond tribute, and a celebration of legendary composer Quincy Jones.
